Originally founded in 1910, Castlebar Golf Club is a challenging, manicured parkland course designed by Peter McEvoy. Castlebar Golf Club underwent several transformations, the last being the total redesign to its current layout measuring 6,420 yards with 18 sand based greens and tees. The greens are to USPGA standard and are, therefore, playable year round. The course offers a variety of holes, each with its own unique challenge. The club earned the title “The Augusta of Connaught” while hosting the All Ireland Cups and Shields finals which describes the quality of this parkland course. US Vice President Joe Biden, 6 time major winner Lee Trevino and our Taoiseach Enda Kenny are all honorary members of Castlebar Golf Club. The course record is held by Rory McIlroy.

Castlebar Golf Club is a friendly and welcoming club, with members and visitors alike made feel welcome. The course is open all year round with only the severest of weather impacting on the course. In 1908 Westport golf club was founded at Trafalgar Park, now known as Horkan’s Hill, just a ten minute walk from Westport town center. 1815 saw a new course being developed at Old Carrowholly and in 1927, with a membership of 80, the first Pavilion was built. Golf continued to be enjoyed by countless numbers on this 9 hole course until 1973.During the following number of years and involving much deliberation and debate some 250 acres on Lord Sligo’s estate were acquired and Fred Hawtree commissioned to design a championship golf course. Course construction started in 1971 and continued until 1973 and was officially opened by An Taiseach, Mr Liam Cosgrave in 1975.

Westport is a magnificent 18 hole parkland course which has played host to the 2002 Smurfit Irish P.G.A Championship. It has breath taking views of Croagh Patrick and Clew Bay

The Championship Parkland Golf Course at Ballinrobe Golf Club is considered by some, including Padraig Harrington, to be one of the finest in Ireland.

Cloonacastle Estate, which dates back to 1238, became the new home for Ballinrobe Golf Club during its centenary year in 1995. A mature 300 acre estate provides the setting for an ever evolving, continuously maturing, magnificent championship parkland golf course. A 250 year old Estate House and some of its original farm buildings, have been carefully and tastefully renovated to provide modern clubhouse facilities.

In the words of Padraig Harrington –

“This must be the finest championship course in the West of Ireland, The par threes, in particular, are a delight. My favorite hole is the fifth which has a marvelous green inset into the River Robe. The tenth hole is a hole which the professionals will love, with its island green needing a very precise choice of club.”

Why not experience the challenge of this magnificent parkland course for yourself…

Enniscrone Golf Club is located on the scenic West Coast of Ireland in County Sligo. Known for having some of the largest dunes in Ireland, the club is situated on a promontory that juts into Killala Bay at the mouth of the River Moy Estuary. This provides Enniscrone with one of the most beautiful settings for the uncompromised playing characteristics of Irish links golf.

Since the club’s founding in 1918, its fathers dreamed of expanding their nine-hole course onto Ireland’s most spectacular links land. The dream was realized in 1974, and today Enniscrone Golf Club offers 27 holes of links golf. Here, we believe, you’ll experience some of the best Irish links golf on the Dunes course, or a more serene round on the Eddie Hackett-and Donald Steel designed nine-hole, 3,367 yard, Scurmore Course.

Our featured course, The Dunes, is a 7,033 yard, par 73, championship links course, often a venue for National and Golfing Union of Ireland’s top amateur events. The Dunes evolved from Eddie Hackett’s original 18-hole design. The traditional links layout was reconfigured to include six new holes in the seaside dunes. Renowned architect Donald Steel designed the six new holes, and The Dunes was further refined to include four men’s tee boxes to suit golfers at all handicap levels.
