In 2008 six couples spent 3 nights b/b and dinner in Breaffy House Resort and enjoyed all aspects of the Hotel. We returned in 2009, 2010 and again in 2011. Over the 4 years we had 144 breakfasts and 144 dinners and despite the fact that one or two of our group are "complainers" we could not complain about again. I stayed at Breaffy House for the first time over the weekend, and thoroughly enjoyed my stay there. The range of facilities is hard to beat, and I found the staff very helpful at all times. The hotel retains some of its old-world charm yet, with the leisure facilities etc, still caters for all possible guests' needs. I was very fortunate with my accommodation as my room was at the front of the hotel and quiet (well away from the 500-strong group of revellers elsewhere in the hotel). I had cause to stay in Castlebar for business in November. I stayed for 2 nights. The hotel is delightfully situated on fantastic grounds in close proximity to Castlebar. It's quiet and relaxing. Free wifi at reception. My room was comfortable and in tune with what I'd expect from a hotel of its standing. The leisure centre and pool are a plus.
I ran into a little bit of bother and I must say the young staff receptionist Clare was top class. Irrespective of how busy she was no problem was too great. Coupled with Denise in the restaurant their service to a customer embodied what staying in a hotel should be about.
Parking is no issue with spacious grounds. A town called Westport is no more than 20 mins drive and a local religious mountain called crag Patrick is a must see. Stayed November 2011 IrelandPad,Ireland

Stayed in nov 11 on business but with family 2 adults+ 2 young kids.  room was excellent - very spacious- clean - good condition and more than met our expectations lesure centre on site with playground - good for kids food - breakfast was self service - would rate as satisfactory to good bar food ditto a few kms east of castlebar - need a car or taxi to access castlebar. good base for exploring mayo. value - very good got a competitve rate for our stay, on basis of what we got for what we spent woudl visit again Stayed November 2011 davidandclann, Galway, Ireland

Very Large Hotel and Resort in the beautiful wooded area just outside the Town of Castlebar. The Reception was spacious and a welcoming fire was burning in the hearth when I arrived. The Room was large and very clean with very comfortable bed. Staff were friendly and attentive.Food was very good and the dining area allowed lots of room at each table. From the minute we entered the Hotel. The kids were gne to the kids club, then we hit the pool. We had dinner in the hotel lovely food, reasonable price, Off to the kids disco. Just home having spent a few days in Breaffy House, my husband had been raving about it for years having stayed there before without me! We had a very relaxing time I must say, and it did live up to expectations. We had dinner in the bar and it was lovely. The surroundings were comfortable, the food nice but the staff were fantastic. Same for breakfast, the food was great but again the staff were so helpful and kind (this means a lot when travelling with children!)
The leisure facilities were nicely organised and we made great family memories in the pool. Again top marks for the staff. Having stayed at many hotels I can say that this experience was authentic and genuine, all the staff are irish and you fell that difference.

We stayed at this hotel recently to attend our sons wedding. On arrival, the hotel is a very attractive building. The check in was fast and efficient. The wedding reception was more than we expected. All staff that we encountered on the day were courteous, efficient and very professional. I would specially single out a mature gentleman who appeared to be the banqueting or catering manager, who epitomised all that is good in hotel management. The wedding reception was a total success, due in no small part to the staff of this establishment. The following morning at breakfast, we were met by the above manager who inquired if everything had been ok at the reception, before showing us to our table. The food at breakfast was excellent with a great variety to suit all tastes. We did not use the leisure facilities, but were assured by family members that they were excellent.
